Introduction to Mindfulness

February 5 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Classes are held virtually over Zoom, Monday nights from 6:00pm – 7:00 pm, starting February 5th and ending February 26th. Classes are taught by Tara Lampert from the Alaska Center for Mindfulness, and are free of charge for participants through a grant administered by Center for Safe Alaskans and Alaska Highway Safety Office.

In this 4-week course, participants will learn theories and practices of mindfulness and several ways to implement these tools in their daily lives. Students will discover new ways of working with strong emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations through guided meditation, diaphragmatic breathing, and gentle movement as well as through shifting perspectives/re-framing, understanding habit patterns, developing affirmations, and thoughtful self-compassion. Engaged dialogue is geared towards the students and their specific needs.

Registration closes Friday, February 2nd.
