Culturally Responsive Restorative Practices: Positive and Restorative Engagement with Alaska’s Youth

This session will explore how restorative practices can meet the unique needs of Alaska’s youth and communities. Participants will discover both proactive strategies, like talking circles and community agreements, and reactive approaches that repair harm and restore relationships. Through hands-on activities and guided conversation, you’ll build understanding of cultural proficiency, restorative questioning, and adapting language to better connect with youth.

Location: Virtual via Zoom (A calendar invitation with the Zoom link will be sent after registration)
 
Cost: Free!
 
Audience: Youth advocates, educators, social service providers, and community partners working to support social-emotional skill development in youth, including emotion regulation and positive mental health.
 
Facilitator: Facilitated by Leslie Scranton, School Safety Specialist at SERRC, with 35+ years in Alaska public education.
