Alaska has long been at the top of the list for sexual and domestic violence. Many initiatives necessarily focus on crisis intervention and critical direct services with many fewer initiatives focusing on prevention. Teen leaders are stepping up to fill the gap and making progress. Learn how you can support the next generation of leaders and make Alaska safer. (See our February agenda for more details.) \nPresenter: Geran Tarr is the Mentor for Alaska Teens Against Abuse and brings decades of experience as an educator\, social justice and human rights activist\, and former state legislator with deep expertise in education\, advocacy\, policy\, and strategic planning. DESCRIPTION:Young people today are growing up in a world where the internet and access to it are deeply woven into nearly every part of daily life. This session explores how youth use digital spaces and the challenges adults face in keeping them safe while respecting their autonomy and voice. Participants will examine key online risks youth are facing—such as grooming\, sextortion\, cyberbullying\, and radicalization—and learn to identify warning signs of harm.
